Learning Objective |

Trainer |
Mr Manoj Pathnapuram, MSc (Speech and Hearing), leads a team of practitioner-trainers at the Rainbow Centre Training & Consultancy, Singapore. As a trainer and consultant in the fields of early childhood intervention and special education, Manoj coordinates and conducts courses and workshops related to best practices in the intervention of children with special needs, locally and regionally. A blend of best practices is evident in his clinical practice and training methods. With a Masters in Speech Pathology & Audiology, Manoj is also a certified Hanen trainer, accredited administrator of the MBTI suite of instruments, certified in the Neuro Development Treatment approach for children with Neuromotor difficulties, Orton-Gillingham approach for children with Dyslexia, and the Treatment & Education of Autistic and other related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH) Level 1. His special areas of interest include functional communication intervention in children with Autism and resource development in early childhood intervention.
Ms Faridah Ali Chang, B.Psychology, is the principal trainer/consultant with Rainbow Centre Training and Consultancy (RCTC) and is registered psychologist (Singapore). Faridah trains and consults locally and regionally, focusing on the best practices and interventions of children with special needs. She brings into her training sessions, her collection of 18 years of experiences in teaching and managing children with special needs, conducting formal/informal assessments for learning and behaviour intervention and in enskilling teachers, parents and therapists on understanding and managing children with special needs. Faridah is certified in the Treatment & Education of Autistic and other related Communication handicapped Children (TEACCH) Level 1, Orton-Gillingham approach for children with Dyslexia, the Autism Diagnostic Interview-Revised (ADI-R) and also a certified MBTI practitioner. Currently, Faridah is at the tail end of her graduate research with a focal interest in the Quality of Life of persons with special needs, especially those with multiple disabilities. .
Ms Veronica Lim-Lowe, BA (Social Work), is trained in Social Work and has been with Rainbow Centre for the past 20 years. She is a Senior Family Life Educator & was involved in the development of the parent training packages and home intervention programmes and is currently developing and conducting support group programmes for parents of children with special needs. As a resource trainer with the Rainbow Centre Training & Consultancy (RCTC), she is involved in conducting teacher-training courses for preschools, in-house teachers, special education teachers. She facilitates their understanding of the impact of having a child with special needs on the family, providing them an insight into the coping and grief journey that parents and families experience, in the aim of building positive efforts in parent-teacher collaboration. She is currently involved in developing and conducting support group programmes for parents of children with special needs. She is experienced in facilitating groups of parents in recalling the first time when they learnt that their child has a disability. They are helped to share their emotions with fellow parents, how they have coped and to realise that they are not alone in their grief journey. This opportunity usually helps them move on towards acceptance.
